We use a high quality electroplating process for each of our jewelry pieces which mean they don't rub or flake away easily. But it's still good to follow best practices to make the most out of them!
Here are some care tips to keep your jewelry shining.
1. Remove when playing contact sports
Speaking as a former athlete and basketball coach, I know this rule can be hard to follow. But I always encourage this to be done, as wearing jewelry while playing sports can be dangerous and cause injuries. Plus, this removes the risk of damage to the jewelry.
2. Getting Your Jewelry Wet
It's fine to get our jewelry wet! Wear it in the shower or while swimming, just make sure to dry it afterwards!
Otherwise, if your jewelry is wet for prolonged periods of time, this will cause residue buildup that will dull the shine. That’s why it’s always important to keep your jewelry dry before storing.
3. Cleaning
Every few months you should check your jewelry for residue buildup, which for all kinds of jewelry, will inevitably happen.
Soak your jewelry in a bowl of warm water mixed with any regular dish soap such as Dawn dish soap, then brush gently with a soft brush or cloth. Then rinse in a separate bowl with just water, then dry with a soft cloth.
I recommend putting water into a separate bowl to rinse jewelry rather than over the sink, where it’s easy to lose a piece down the drain (speaking from experience 😅).
4. Avoid Chemicals
Keep your jewelry away from chemicals, this includes most lotions, perfumes, and hairspray.
To avoid chemicals, it’s best to put your jewelry on last after you’ve applied all your skin care products.
5. Storing your jewelry
The most important thing is to keep your jewelry dry before storing. If you want to go the extra mile you can use silica packs to keep it dry.
