The answer to this is really subjective. You can fit 40+ medals with a tight fit. If you want each medal to be seen individually, you can comfortably fit 20 medals. 

Each Medal Hanger comes with screws and drywall anchors, so you don't have to go searching for any extra material. Installation is very simple and takes only a few minutes.  Here is a video of how to hang it:   Installation Video

The Medal Hangers are 17.5 inches in width and 12 inches in height.
